Van Nuys Airport is centrally located in San Fernando Valley just north of Los Angeles. We enjoy ideal weather conditions year round with minimum down time due to weather delays. Van Nuys airport is located just minutes away from a variety of different airspaces and airports. These airports range from Los Angeles International Airport, one of the busiest Airports in the world, to Agua Dulce, a quiet, non towered airport less than 15 minutes away. After training in such a complex and diverse area, you will be comfortable flying anywhere in the world.
We are also located next to a variety of attractions that are not otherwise available for a day trip via a car, including Catalina Island, Las Vegas, Big Bear, just to name a few.
Catalina Island is just a few miles off the coast of southern California, and is conveniently located less than 30 minutes of flight from Van Nuys. Many pilots, after obtaining their license, visit Catalina Island frequently for a day of fun. Scuba Diving, Kayaking, and Parasailing are just a few activities that can be done at Catalina with your family and friends. Best of all, you get to fly back home the same day
Las Vegas is about two hours away. Once you fly there with your small plane, you would never want to drive again.
While we have many ski resorts in southern California, most people do not know that there is an airport very close to most of them. Whether you like to ski or snowboard, you can get to your favorite rides in less than an hour. Big Bear City Airport is about 45 minutes from Van Nuys, and from there, the resorts are a short cab ride away (less than 10 minutes).
